Yarmouk University hosts traditional Russian sport "Zarnitsa" event

Irbid, May 24 (Petra) -- Yarmouk University (YU) on Sunday hosted activities of the traditional Russian sport "Zarnitsa," with "wide" participation from children and youth of the Russian community residing in Jordan.

The event is part of the university’s efforts to promote cultural openness and foster an inclusive academic environment that encourages interaction among peoples.

According to a YU statement, the event featured a range of sports, physical and team-based intellectual competitions, aimed at developing leadership, teamwork and discipline skills among participants, while promoting cooperation and team spirit.

The program combined recreational and educational elements linked to the historical heritage of the game, providing an interactive experience for participants of different age groups.

Concluding the activities, certificates of appreciation and commemorative prizes were handed over to participants.

Meanwhile, organizers expressed their appreciation to the university administration for its support and facilitation, which contributed to the event's success and reflected its strong organizational standards, providing space for students and resident communities to engage within the university environment.

Zarnitsa, which is a traditional Russian outdoor team game for children and youth that simulates military-style scenarios, combines physical activity, strategy, teamwork, and problem-solving exercises, aimed at building discipline, cooperation, and leadership skills.
